Youth Education & Programs Coordinator

Full-Time | 30 Hours per Week | $25.00 per Hour

​

Buckmaster’s Circle Community Centre (BMCC) is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and community-minded Youth Education & Programs Coordinator to join our team.

​

The Youth Education & Programs Coordinator will play an important role in supporting the educational development, engagement, and well-being of youth in our community. This position will coordinate and deliver youth education initiatives, including Youth Group, the Youth Achieve Program, tutoring and homework support, while also assisting Centre staff with other programs and community initiatives.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about working with youth, has strong facilitation and organizational skills, and can build positive, supportive relationships with young people.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver the Youth Achieve Program, including program planning, scheduling, participant engagement, and facilitation.

  • Coordinate tutoring schedules and match students with appropriate tutoring supports.

  • Coordinate and support the Centre’s homework program, ensuring youth have access to appropriate assistance and educational resources.

  • Facilitate youth groups, workshops, educational sessions, and activities.

  • Develop engaging educational and skill-building opportunities for youth.

  • Build positive relationships with youth and encourage participation, confidence, leadership, and personal development.

  • Monitor program participation and maintain appropriate program records.

  • Communicate regularly with students, tutors, families, volunteers, staff, and community partners as required.

  • Assist with the recruitment, orientation, scheduling, and coordination of tutors and volunteers.

  • Support the promotion and outreach of youth programs and encourage participation.

  • Assist Centre staff with other programs, activities, events, and community initiatives.

  • Work collaboratively with BMCC staff and community partners to support the needs of local youth.

  • Help ensure that all youth programs are delivered in a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment.

  • Perform other duties related to youth programming and the operations of the Community Centre.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Education, Social Work, Community Development, Recreation, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Previous experience facilitating youth groups, educational programs, workshops, tutoring programs, or similar youth-focused initiatives.

  • Experience working directly with youth in a community, educational, recreational, social service, or related setting.

  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple students, tutors, programs, and activities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong group facilitation skills and the ability to create engaging and age-appropriate activities.

  • The ability to establish positive, respectful, and supportive relationships with youth.

  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • A commitment to inclusion, equity, community development, and youth empowerment.

  • Current First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.

  • A Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check will be required.

 

Assets

  • Experience developing and delivering youth education programming.

  • Experience coordinating tutoring or homework programs.

  • Experience working with youth who may face educational, social, or economic barriers.

  • Experience working in a community centre or non-profit organization.

  • Training in trauma-informed practice, mental health first aid, conflict resolution, or related areas.

  • Experience working with volunteers, community partners, or schools.

Employment Details

Position: Youth Education & Programs Coordinator

Status: Full-Time

Hours: 30 hours per week

Wage: $25.00 per hour

Location: Buckmasters Circle Community Centre, St. John’s, NL
